Last autocross event I had such a big problem with overdriving my car. It was weird because usually, I find myself having to adjust in order to go harder, later, and braver into corners; fearing this new-to-me high HP car is still sometimes an issue. Overwhelming the front tires under braking, and running very wide due to an overly eager throttle foot were things I haven’t experienced prior to that event. In fact, the whole day was practically an exercise of having to back down from however I ran previously. It was quite puzzling for me since usually, it’s the opposite.
The answer came to me when I thought about my previous, racing harness equipped, car. It was a car which I never feared and was actually cocky enough to slide flamboyantly around, despite it being the more twitchy and fearsome chassis layout. That same confidence in diving into corners and eagerness to power out was only realized in this newer car after installing a CG Lock. For the first time since I had a harness, I was not having to hang on for dear life.
