CORAThere will be Oval racing at Calgary in 2009 and into the future!!!!!!!

For anyone who has not already heard, a number of your fellow racers have been working behind the scenes this winter to put together a 2009 race season.

You are invited to attend the Calgary Oval Racing Association (CORA) General Meeting on Thursday, January 15th, at 7pm.

There will also be a Hobby Stock only meeting later in January to discuss our involvement with CORA, to discuss our 2009 rules and to elect new executive members.

Please refer to the below media release for more information or check the CORA website www.calgaryovalracing.com.

The Calgary Oval Racing Association (CORA) a Non-Profit Association was formed December 03/08 for the purpose of setting up and operating safe and fair motor races.

The plan is to rent the oval track at Race City Motorsport Park and conduct competitive oval racing.

Five-two day race weekends, one a month from May to September. 10 Races in total.

This is a multi-class Association combined with Member Classes and Associate Classes

Member Classes:
Hobbies, Claimers, Mini Stock, Super Moto

Associate Classes:
Legends, IMCA, Baby Grands, Late Models

CORA has a lot of work ahead of them to get started: look at the track for repairs required, find sponsorship for track repairs, class sponsorships and race operations.

Things to come: keeping the pressure on the city to keep legal racing alive in Calgary, Daytona 500 fund raiser, booth at the World of Wheels and racing at Race City Motorsport Park

Remember watching racing can fun but being part of the race is even better. So if you are not racing come-out and volunteer the second best way to watch a race, the best way is to be in the car or on the bike.
